Can I add Please Select option in my dropdown list?

Yes, you can add Please Select to your dropdown lists. Type this: *Please Select* as the first option in the list. It will not be considered a valid choice; it’s simply an invitation to make one. In other words, if the dropdown list is a required field and the user leaves the first line selected, then they will get an error asking them to make a choice.

Dropdown field 123FormBuilder

  1. When a form is submitted if *Please Select* is left in the box it is not counted as a blank field so the email copy of the form says *Please Select* can this be filtered out so it is not included in the email?

    1. Hello Aaron! The text choice *Please Select* is treated the same way as other choices, therefore it can not be left out in the submission copy. The *Please Select* was designed to force users to choose another option from the dropdown when it is marked as required. I would recommend you to either set the field as requested or use another choice field.

  2. Is it possible to have the *Please Select* option in a dropdown work the same way in other languages? (eg. Spanish *Elige Uno*)

    1. Hello Jeremy,

The Please select placeholder would need to be included as the first option of the dropdown field in English, in order to apply correctly. It can then be display in Spanish, or any other language, by editing the default language from the Settings -> Translate section.
